Interventions once unthinkable without recurring to traditional surgery are nowadays possible thanks to “PLEXR® Surgery” that uses a conveyed microplasma to reduce the excess skin of eyelids with immediate and long-lasting results, without using scalpel or laser. Non-Ablative Surgery in three-dimensional aesthetic ophthalmology is nowadays a reality.
The “Three-Dimensional Non-Ablative Blepharoplasty” is a technique used in the last years by an uprising number of specialists to correct the alterations of convexity and concavity in orbital and palpebral tissues. Blepharoplasty is one of the most required interventions for both aesthetic and functional reasons. To correct eyelid imperfections with traditional surgery though, the technique requires a local or, in some cases, general anesthesia, a surgical removal of the excess skin, stitches, medications and many controls. For these reasons, in addition to the risks connected to both the unwanted side effects and the heavy downtime, few patients recur to traditional surgery to correct the imperfections of eyelids.
Non-Ablative Surgery represents a valid alternative to the traditional one: using PLEXR® as the only medical device designed to correct blepharoplasty in a Non-Ablative way, any kind of complication is in fact avoided.
Practiced for over thirty years (Fippi 1984), Non Ablative Surgery presents an important number of clinical cases, national and international publications, press articles and lately it has also become a subject of study in University Second Level Masters both nationally and internationally. PLEXR® equipment is composed of three hand pieces, each one capable of generating a mycroplasm suitable for any skin type that does not convey a large amount of heat to the dermis. This type of Epidermal Non-Ablative Surgery does not involve the papillary layer of the dermis and changes the dermis without causing fibrosis and without cutting, removing or stitching the skin. Thanks to tiny dots of sublimation arranged in a triangle scheme, we are able to shorten the excess skin in a painless and bloodless way. The absence of side effects and the extreme safety of the the procedure carried out by experts, contributed to the great success of Non-Ablative blepharoplasty, making it become in recent years the preferred method over traditional surgery.
In Non-Ablative Blepharoplasty (practiced only by following strict guidelines), the excess skin on the eyelid is not cut and removed, but shortened back into its original thickness, simply by sublimating the dead cells on the surface skin. The result is immediate, the session lasts at maximum three minutes, there is no blood, it does not exceed the basal lamina and the dermis with blood capillaries is never reached. As soon as the session is over, we can appreciate the perfect plasticity of the eyelid movement and the respect of the three-dimensional harmony in the orbital eyelid. Before the treatment, it is essential to establish the difference in opening between the two eyes by making them open and close a few times. We must evaluate the orbit anatomy, the relations between eyelids’ folds, the distance between the eyelid fold and eyelashes/eyebrows and the status of the periorbital tissues.
Like every other Non-Ablative
Blepharoplasty intervention, this surgery leaves no scars or asymmetry, the rosy glow of the treated area, visible during the
carried out 28 days later, is normalized in the following days and there is no lowering of the eyebrow (which would give the classic sad look of some interventions with traditional blepharoplasty), no excessive eye opening (that gives the particular “altered” look after some traditional blepharoplasties) and no lagophtalmos. Another advantage is that with this type of blepharoplasty the external periocular excess skin is shortened, resulting in a disappearance of the periorbital zygomatic wrinkles. If the treated area is particularly large, a swelling could appear in the evening of the next day, and consequently disappear in about two days. To avoid this inconvenience (which is indeed negligible compared to the advantages) it is appropriate to carry out the treatment in two or more sessions.
The absence of scars, side effects, the beauty and harmony of the results are the logical explanation of the enormous success of Non-Ablative Blepharoplasty.
With Non-Ablative Surgery we are able to treat all the skin’s blemishes and pathologies with non-invasive techniques.
Using Fractioned Flow Waves (OFF) and Needle Shaping alone or in synergy with PLEXR®’s Non-Ablative surgery, permits to obtain fabulous results and made Non-Ablative Surgery internationally renowned.
